Human Resources Hobbies/Passions/Obsessions/Etc., Etc., Etc.Tell us a bit about the things you love to do! Original Report—March 2006Life has had more ups than downs and I consider myself very fortunate. I'm one of 7 kids; 4 of them went to Covina High, the others went to Bishop Amat. Except for one younger sister we all still live in Southern California. One sister is in West Covina, another in Alta Loma. I have a brother in Hacienda Heights and three of us are in Orange County, including my mother who is still active and dancing at 80 years old. A couple of downs, my dad died of cancer at 46 and my fiance died as he was about to graduate from USC law school 4 years later. He was 25 and he died of cancer, too. It took me a while to get over those major life events. I figured I'd get married and have someone take care of me the rest of my life. Thankfully, I went to school, something to fall back on, don't you know. I dated a much older guy, almost as old as my dad, for about 4 years. Then I met mister right at age 31. Mr. Steven Tyler. No, not him, not Mr. Aerosmith but he took his sweet time in marrying me so I probably have the youngest child of anyone in the class of 1968. Her name is Kimberly, she's 17 and will graduate from high school this year. She's beautiful and brilliant and unlike her mom, she can do math. There are a couple of interesting things about having a child at 37 years old. Number 1, change of life and puberty hit the same week. Number 2, paying for college when you want to start the process of retiring doesn't work that well. I have a serious career—that's what I was doing when I was looking for Mr. Right. I have worked at SHURflo, a pump manufacturing company in Cypress, since 1987 and I'm the VP of Human Resources. ![]() Update December 2007 Here's a picture of the triplets: The one in the middle is a
2004 Indy Blue MINI Cooper S which we've driven across country
for an event called "MINI Takes the States". Among the other vehicles are a 1982 DeLorean, a 1987 Toyota 4Runner, a Mighty Might (a vehicle used as a Jeep-type vehicle in Viet Nam that preceded the arrival of the Humvee), a 2007 Kia Sportage (my daughter's car) and a 2001 BMW 3301 (my car), two RV's, multiple motorcycles, ATV's and a partridge in a pear tree. I've already book a suite the night of the reunion and I'm trying to get my husband (who is very quiet and shy) ready to attend. There is another major MINI event scheduled for next summer but the dates aren't set as yet. But we'll be at the reunion, come hell or high water. |
