Craig Dixon
After High School graduation I enlisted in the United States Air Force
and performed tasks associated with personnel management, accounting,
and training. I was stationed in Oklahoma, South Carolina, Colorado,
and Thule, Greenland. I married my high school sweetheart, Linda
McCafferty (class of '68) on July 19, 1969. We will be celebrating
our 39th wedding anniversary this summer. I separated from the military and immediately began attending Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa and received a degree in 1976. I was then given the opportunity to help manage a friend's retail tire business in Baldwin Park, so we moved to Covina where we bought our first house. After a few years I became interested in law enforcement and began working as a Community Service Officer and Evidence Officer for the West Covina Police Department. I maintained contact with our good friends Dan Bethel (class of '68) and his wife Joy. He encouraged me to consider a career in insurance. A year later I began working for Dan selling insurance for Teachers Insurance Company. About this time I went back to college and eventually obtained my B.S. degree from Azusa Pacific University. Due to economic changes in California, the insurance company
determined it would pull back from its main market, automobile
insurance. I learned that the State of California Department of
Insurance was testing for insurance compliance offiers. I took and
passed the tests and interviewed for a position in the Consumer
Services Division as a complaint investigator. I was hired in 1989
and was promoted to supervisor in 1990. In 1999, I was promoted to
Bureau Chief of the Field Claims Bureau, where I currently work today,
managing insurance compliance claims examinations for the Department.
Linda and I have lived in San Dimas for 24 years. We have six
children: four daughters and two sons. Linda and I have shared many blessings and difficulties during our
recent past including Linda's treatment and healing from breast cancer
in 2000 and my kidney cancer in January of 2005. We are both doing
very well, thank you Lord! We hope you will consider this event special and include it in your plans for August. We look forward to visiting with all of you at that time! April 2008 |
